Overview
MOTORTREND SDVI AWARDS
The 2024 MotorTrend Software Defined Innovator Awards presented us with an exciting challenge to develop a compelling story and design. Our marketing campaign began several months before the event with the primary objective to highlight the importance of a futuristic awards show. While autonomous vehicles may be commonplace, we recognized that the crucial work done behind the scenes often goes unnoticed. Our campaign aimed to attract industry sponsors and attendees, firmly believing in our ability to deliver a successful B2B event.
The event was executed flawlessly, thanks to the combined efforts of static and motion graphics designers. The two display boards were expertly coordinated with slides featuring static and motion graphics, resulting in an impressive visual experience. Our deliverables comprised of 9 different setups, which had cohesive branding elements such as logo loops and clean backgrounds for the stage, along with onsite signage. For the animation part of the project, I had the pleasure of collaborating with the talented team at Hugo Creative, which resulted in a dynamic and engaging event.
HOT ROD EVENTS AND ROADKILL NIGHTS
Hot Rod Power Tour and Hot Rod Drag Weeks are annual events hosted by MotorTrend. The challenge with the Hot Rod campaigns was keeping things fresh yearly while growing the event's target audience year after year. The Hot Rod brand is cherished for its nostalgic value, meaning many of its core consumers are older. Shifting the marketing from solely focused on the automotive side of the events toMotorTrend's annual events, Hot Rod Power Tour and Hot Rod Drag Weeks, have posed the challenge of keeping them fresh every year while expanding their target audience. As a cherished brand for its nostalgic value, Hot Rod's core consumers primarily belong to an older age group.
However, we have successfully shifted our marketing strategies from solely focusing on the automotive side of the events to including more family-friendly footage, modern music, and graphics, attracting a wider audience beyond just automotive enthusiasts. Our efforts have proven fruitful as the event's popularity continues to grow among mainstream audiences. By including more family-friendly footage and more modern music and graphics, the event grew more popular with mainstream audiences. Hot Rod Power Tour and Hot Rod Drag Weeks are annual events hosted by MotorTrend.
The challenge with these events was to keep them fresh every year while expanding their target audience. Hot Rod is a highly nostalgic brand, meaning its core consumers are typically older. However, by shifting the marketing focus from solely automotive to more family-friendly content, modern music, and graphics, we successfully attracted a wider audience beyond automotive enthusiasts.
The event's long-term strategy was a resounding success, as it sold out within just two weeks of its announcement in 2024. The marketing materials used primarily comprised impactful social videos and radio spots, which played a crucial role in driving the event's success.

The Roadkill Nights project was an exceptional undertaking that was closely associated with the Dodge automotive brand. As a result, the marketing strategy had to be customized to meet their expectations, as well as those of the event's origin, Roadkill. Roadkill is a highly popular automotive show known for its crazy car builds, fast drag races, and entertaining shenanigans, with a passionate fan base. Therefore, the event's tone had to be slightly different from that of Hot Rod. However, our unwavering goal was to create a family-friendly atmosphere that catered to the diverse crowd.
