BRAND
MARKETING
Overview
Throughout my career in brand marketing, I have had numerous opportunities to learn and contribute to several remarkable projects. One of the highlights of my career was when I wrote the copy for Investigation Discovery's Swamp Murders campaign, which eventually led to my first Promax award. This was a very satisfying moment that propelled my career forward. From there, I produced hundreds of branding promotions across multiple networks.

Throughout my professional career, I have been fortunate enough to participate in the branding of several television networks. Specifically, I played an essential role in branding American Heroes Channel, Discovery Family, and Discovery Health. These branding projects involved extensive market research, creative ideation sessions, and various stakeholders collaborating to develop brand messaging and visual identities that resonated with the target audience.
One of my most significant accomplishments was the branding of Investigation Discovery, a cable network specializing in true crime content. This project was particularly challenging due to the sensitive nature of the content and the need to balance the network's brand image with the gravity of the subject matter. Nonetheless, we created a compelling brand identity that resonated with viewers and helped establish Investigation Discovery as a leading network in its genre.
After my successful work with Investigation Discovery, I transitioned to Velocity, where I was entrusted with developing the network's brand story and crafting assets for various presentations and events. This was a collaborative effort that involved working closely with the network's marketing team, as well as external agencies and vendors. Together, we created a cohesive and compelling brand identity that helped to propel Velocity to new heights of success.
Thanks to our hard work, we established multiple ratings records and solidified our position as one of the top 25 networks for men nationwide. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to the success of these networks and am proud of the work that we accomplished together.
During my career, one of my most significant accomplishments was leading the rebranding effort of Velocity to MotorTrend. The project received recognition in the form of the Cynopsis Award for Best Rebranding, which was a gratifying experience, particularly since we outperformed competitors such as Paramount+.
As a MotorTrend's marketing leadership team member, my contributions to the brand's growth across various platforms and disciplines were pivotal. I had the opportunity to work on exciting brand creative projects that involved designing and developing content for different mediums, including television, streaming services, web, and mobile. The rebranding effort was a comprehensive exercise, which involved rolling out the new branding elements across every aspect of the brand, including editorial and events.
Our primary focus was the broadcast network and the accompanying streaming service, but we also made sure to infuse the new branding elements into other brand products and services. This exercise gave me an in-depth understanding of the creative processes involved in brand transformation, which was a valuable learning experience. The knowledge gained from this project enabled me to manage a more comprehensive initiative later in my career with greater confidence and success.

The latter part of my career has been fascinating as I've expanded my skill set from entertainment marketing to product, event social media, PAID, and B2B marketing, which qualifies me as a branding expert. Due to this expertise, I was brought in to lead the brand campaign for Hot Rod's 75th anniversary campaign. For this campaign, I spoke to noted experts from the brand's storied past and read Hot Rod Empire, a novel written by a former editor-in-chief. Given the highly opinionated target audience, this gave me the knowledge to authentically tell a story that had to be spot on. I wrote, produced, and edited the entire campaign and worked with the incredibly talented Shaun Patrick on motion graphics.
The success of the Hot Rod campaign led to the request to rebrand the MotorTrend business and put together the 75th anniversary campaign the following year. You can read more about that campaign at the link below.
